Is cashmere a luxury? Yes, and still within reach

Many people consider cashmere to be a luxury product and, as a result, not always affordable. At Dalle Piane Cashmere, though, we want to make this highly prized material democratic and accessible to everyone.

You might be wondering:

‘But how is it possible to keep prices low while guaranteeing quality?’

Quite simply, Dalle Piane Cashmere products are designed and knitted exclusively in our family's factory in Tuscany, with yarn from a spinning mill in Prato, for two reasons: keeping every stage of production in-house lets us check every detail closely and, at the same time, keep costs down.

Buying our yarn close to home and making only what is needed lets us cut waste, and better resource management shows up in the price of our garments.

Within reach, and made from fibre already in circulation

What's more, the same thinking led to DP Recycled, our recycled cashmere collection, made with yarn from a spinning mill in Prato, Tuscany, a textile district with a long tradition of recycling. The fibre is recovered from cashmere garments and offcuts that already existed and blended with virgin cashmere: every piece is 100% cashmere, at least half of it recycled, and we knit it in our family's factory.

This gives a quality yarn made with reduced use of energy, water and chemical resources. Because the fibre is shorter than virgin cashmere, pills are a little more likely to form, so we recommend following the washing instructions closely to keep your garments looking good for longer.

What's the result? Quality garments made with less energy, water and chemical input. In plain terms that means: lower costs for us, lower prices for our customers and material kept in use instead of thrown away.
