Starting again by focusing on Made in Italy
The writer T.S. Eliot wrote in his masterpiece ‘The Waste Land’ that ‘April is the cruellest month’, and never more than this year will it be an unusual month for all of us, in a way we could never have imagined.
The health emergency caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19), which began last February, has turned our lives upside down in unexpected ways, forcing us to change our daily habits radically and putting many small and medium-sized Italian businesses to a severe test.
The shutdown of non-essential production and commercial activity has hit every sector, from food to tourism and on to fashion, which on its own is the country's second-largest industry. The entire production chain is suffering heavy repercussions, and it is precisely for this reason that an appeal has gone out online calling on people to support Made in Italy, so that we can start again with ourselves and preserve the economic and manufacturing fabric of the country, which is our wealth and our added value.
Each of us can make a difference by buying local products, or by choosing Italian destinations for our next summer holiday, as soon as it is possible to travel freely around the country again.
