Our sizes are Italian. Go by the measurements, not the letter.

An Italian S is not a British S, and no conversion table fixes that honestly. What does fix it is two minutes with a tape measure, and it is the single thing that keeps a sweater you liked from going back in the post.

How to find your size

Take a sweater you already own and like the fit of. Lay it flat on a table, smooth out the creases, and measure it. Then compare those numbers with the charts below and pick the size that comes closest. This works better than measuring your body, because it tells us how you actually want a sweater to sit on you.

You need two things: a sweater you love the fit of, and a tape measure or a ruler.

A — Chest, flat. Straight across the garment, from one underarm seam to the other.
B — Length. From the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
C — Shoulder. Across the back, from one shoulder seam to the other.
D — Sleeve. On women's pieces, from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff. On men's pieces, from the centre of the back neck straight to the end of the cuff, with the sleeve laid out.

The first row of each chart is different: bust and chest are measured on you, around the fullest part, with the tape level and not pulled tight.

All numbers are in inches, with centimetres in brackets.

Women

Slim fit, close to the body. If you want room, take one size up. Our knitwear is cut the way it is cut in Italy: the garment measures about what the body measures, and the cashmere does the rest. If you are used to roomier cuts, ours will feel closer through the chest than you expect.

The UK sizes in the first row come from the bust measurements: from S to XL our sizes match UK 8 to 14, while our XXL sits between UK 14 and 16 and our 3XL is a UK 16. The letter is where it goes wrong: in most British shops an M is a 12–14, which here is our L or XL. So if you usually buy M, start from the bust row, not from the letter.

Women's recycled cashmere. Our women's pieces in recycled cashmere are cut about ¾ in (2 cm) narrower through the chest and the shoulder than the chart above, and about ¾ in (2 cm) longer in the body; they run S through XXL. On one of those, if you are between two sizes, take the larger.

Men

Regular fit. There is room to move, but it is not a boxy cut. Our sizes are Italian, and from L up the letter tends to come up smaller than you may expect. Go by the chest number and the letter takes care of itself.

Men's recycled cashmere. Our men's pieces in recycled cashmere measure the same as the chart above, so take the size you take in the rest of the men's knitwear; they run S through XXL, not up to 3XL.

T-shirts, polos, sleeveless sweaters and knitted waistcoats. Chest, length and shoulder are the same as the men's chart above; the only thing that changes is the sleeve, which is short or not there at all, so there is nothing to measure. Take the same size you take in a long-sleeved sweater.

A few things the charts do not cover

Scarves, wraps, throws and most accessories have no size: their measurements are written on the product page itself.

Knitwear is measured by hand, piece by piece, so allow about half an inch either way.

FAQ

Does the recycled cashmere itch?
No. Recycled fibre is sorted and spun like any other, and the knit comes out soft enough to wear against the skin.

Does it last as long as virgin cashmere?
It lasts, but it pills a little sooner. Reclaimed fibre has already been spun once, so it is shorter than new fibre, and short fibres work their way to the surface faster. A cashmere comb lifts the pills off, and with the right care the sweater stays good for years.

How do I choose my size?
The fit is slim and close to the body, and the sizes are Italian, running S to XXL. Go by the measurements on the size page rather than the letter: this one is cut about ¾ in (2 cm) narrower through the chest and the shoulder, and about ¾ in (2 cm) longer in the body, than our other women's knitwear, so if you're between two sizes, take the larger.

Is it all recycled?
No, and we would rather say so. The yarn is 100% cashmere: at least half of it is recycled cashmere, the rest is virgin cashmere.

Is there anything to pay on delivery?
No. The price includes VAT and any import charges, and we take care of customs ourselves, so there is nothing to pay the courier when it arrives. It ships free from Italy by FedEx, in 2–5 working days.

What if it doesn't fit?
Free returns within 30 days. One free return per order: a second return on the same order is sent back at your own cost, and nothing is deducted from the refund. Orders placed in November and December can be returned until 31 January.

A turtleneck whose collar folds back on itself and holds a little more warmth around the neck than a round neck does. In blue, under a camel coat with a dark grey skirt; on its own, with the collar turned down once. At least half of the cashmere is recycled – fibre recovered from cashmere garments and offcuts that already existed, turned back into yarn instead of waste. The rest is virgin cashmere.
